Time to Look in the Mirror

Here we are again, another first half of a year gone. 2022 is officially halfway over, and now is the perfect time to look in the mirror and ask yourself some tough questions. Well, the questions are not challenging. Being honest with yourself in your answers might be. And even more difficult will be taking those answers and doing something about them.

Questions You Should Be Asking Yourself

Did you miss, hit, or exceed your goal for the first half of the year? Units, Gross, AND Earnings?

If you missed your goals:

  • Why did you miss your goals?
  • Were they unrealistic?
  • Did you execute the actions required to hit your goals?
  • Did you adjust your actions per day when you started to fall behind?
  • What other things could you have done to prevent missing your target? (Take Responsibility, DO NOT make Excuses)
  • What is your plan to ensure that you hit your goals in the second half of the year and that you also make up for what you missed in the first half of the year?

If you hit your goals:

  • What did you do right to ensure you hit your goals?
  • Did you set your goals high enough?
  • Did you have to work extended hours or on your days off to hit your goal? If so, how could you have achieved your goals inside of your regularly scheduled hours?
  • Could you have executed more actions and exceeded your goals?

If you exceeded your goals:

  • Did you set your goals high enough?
  • What did you do to exceed these goals?
  • Is it repeatable?
  • How will you use this information to exceed your goals for the rest of the year?

How does the answer to these questions affect your goals for the second half of the year?

  • Are your second-half goals too high, too low, or just right?
  • Are you prepared for what happens next?
  • Have you considered the external factors that affected the first half of the year? Will they continue? Will they get better or worse?
  • What adjustments need to be made either to your goals or your actions per day to achieve them?
  • Can you commit to stepping up and making the second half of the year your best ever?

Be honest with yourself, and don’t be afraid to achieve more than you thought possible. I know this concept can be scary. However, I also know that it is not work when you crush your goals. It is FUN! Regardless of your success in 2022 so far or your lack thereof, now is the perfect time to ensure that 2022 is the most successful year of your career. Making 2022 the best year ever will be easier than you think. It is not about chip shortages, pandemics, masks, or anything else. It is all about you and your commitment. Commit to a plan and execute that plan every day for the rest of the year, and I assure you that you will find yourself at your destination sooner than you would have ever thought possible.
