Customer: “Julie, these payments are just more than I budgeted for.”
Salesperson: “I appreciate your honesty about your budget concerns, Steve. Let’s see where we can fit this vehicle into your budget. We need to make sure you are comfortable with the new payment, otherwise I would suggest you don’t buy. (Write this down) Now, how much is your rent?”
Customer: “$900.”
Salesperson: “Utilities, including cell phone, cable & internet?”
Customer: “$250.”
Salesperson: “Insurance?”
Customer: “$100.”
Salesperson: “How about your credit card payments?”
Customer: “I don’t have any credit card debit.”
Salesperson: “Wow, that’s great. Not too many people can say that. How much do you spend on food and entertainment?”
Customer: “$400 – $500.”
Salesperson: “Anything else you can think of?”
Customer: “I think you covered the major expenses.”
Salesperson: “Steve, we are looking at a difference in payment of only $120. By my calculations, with your income and these expenses you have more than enough disposable income to justify getting what you want and deserve. You will still have money left over for savings. The math makes sense doesn’t it?”
Customer: “Yes, that makes sense.”
Salesperson: “Well then, now that you know you have the budget, let’s wrap this up Steve, so you can start enjoying your new ______.”
