Are You Trainable?

“Do you know why they could not put Humpty Dumpty back together again?”

“Because he fell from such a high place.”

Are you trainable? Are you coachable? I recently became a John Maxwell Certified Coach, Teacher, Trainer, and Speaker, as most of you know. This is an accomplishment I am incredibly proud of. If you would like to learn more about this, please check out my website at:   https://www.johncmaxwellgroup.com/joecaruso

Now, I bring this up because when I was going through my certification, the instructor talked about if I wanted to be a successful coach, I must find coachable people. The more I thought about this concept, the more I realized how important it is.

If someone is not open to coaching or training, there is no way I can be successful in coaching or training them. If someone does not want to improve their current situation, it will be nearly impossible for me to help them improve their situation. Conversely, if someone wants to learn, wants to get better, and most importantly, wants to improve their current situation.

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right.” – Henry Ford

I have always believed in this quote from the perspective of being a salesperson. I believe that if you think you will sell the customer, you will. However, if you think the customer is not buying, they won’t. I never really thought about it from a training or coaching perspective. However, when I think about it, it makes total sense. No matter how good of a trainer or coach I am, if the person I am working with doesn’t want to learn or get better, I am fighting a losing battle.

So, I ask you again, are you trainable? Are you coachable? Do you have a desire to get better? If so, I would like to help you. Typically, I do not offer any services in the articles I write. I don’t write these articles to solicit business. I write them with a genuine desire to help people learn, get better at their job, and improve their lives.
